Alice in Wonderland

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"

Welcome Wednesday

Cookie O’Gorman

Cookie O’Gorman writes stories filled with humor and heart for the nerd in all of us. Fiery first kisses, snappy dialogue, smart girls, swoon worthy boys, and unbreakable friendships are featured in each of her books.
Cookie is a hopeless romantic, a Harry Potter aficionado, and a supporter of all things dork. Chocolate, Chinese food, and Asian dramas are her kryptonite. Above all, she believes that real life has enough sorrow and despair—which is why she always tries to give her characters a happy ending. Adorkable is her debut novel.

Adorkable

Adorkable (ah-dor-kuh-bul): Descriptive term meaning to be equal parts dorky and adorable. For reference, see Sally Spitz.

Seventeen-year-old Sally Spitz is done with dating. Or at least, she's done with the horrible blind dates/hookups/sneak attacks her matchmaking bestie, Hooker, sets her up on. There's only so much one geek girl and Gryffindor supporter can take.

Her solution: she needs a fake boyfriend. And fast.

Enter Becks, soccer phenom, all-around-hottie, and Sally's best friend practically since birth. When Sally asks Becks to be her F.B.F. (fake boyfriend), Becks is only too happy to be used. He'd do anything for Sal--even if that means giving her PDA lessons in his bedroom, saying she's "more than pretty," and expertly kissing her at parties.

The problem: Sally's been in love with Becks all her life--and he's completely clueless.

This book features two best friends, one special edition Yoda snuggie, countless beneath-the-ear kisses and begs the question:

Who wants a real boyfriend when faking it is so much more fun?

Excerpt:

Meeting his gaze, I forced out the words, "Ready to make it official?"
Becks grinned, and the sight of that familiar expression, the look in those eyes I'd loved forever, was enough to strengthen my resolve.
Reaching up, I gave myself no time to reconsider.
My lips were on his the next instant, meeting, feeling, rejoicing in this moment I'd never thought but always hoped would happen.  I knew Becks was surprised, could feel it in the stiffness in his shoulders, the tight set to his mouth.  But it didn't matter.  I was kissing Becks, my best friend, my Han Solo, my one.  This was the best moment of my life.  I was certain it couldn't get any better.
But then Becks started kissing me back.
His arms wrapped around my waist, his lips guiding mine, as he went from passive passenger along for the ride to full-on conductor.  I gasped as he bent me back over his arm, and felt him grin through the kiss.  My toes just skimming the floor, supported almost entirely by Becks's strength, I was happy to let him lead.  Becks wasn't just a great kisser.  He was a master.  Far as first kisses go, it was a showstopper.

Teaser Tuesday

Excerpt from Hunted - Coming in 2017

Another hour passed. This one with me sitting alone playing with my still full beer bottle and the same playlist sounding on repeat from someone’s bluetooth speaker. I was utterly bored and found myself stifling yet another yawn before turning and looking for Stacy.
She was still leaning against the same tree, but now Ted, Mitch, and Connor were standing between her tree and Evan’s which was sort of making her a part of their crowd. Currently she was laughing at something one of them had said and I finally saw Evan acknowledge that she was there. His eyes landed on her and smiled before scanning the crowd. I wasn’t sure what or who he was looking for until his eyes landed on me.
Then something weird happened… He smiled and winked. At me. Then held up his beer and took a sip while still staring at me. It was really weird and had an uncomfortable feeling starting to bloom in my stomach. I nodded back to him and then frowned, turning away.
A few minutes later, a shadow fell across me. Evan, with his arm around Stacy’s shoulders, stood between me and the fire, casting shadows on his face. Stacy was beaming. Her brown eyes glowing and twinkling as they stared up into his face.
“What’s wrong Cross?” He asked me, motioning to my beer bottle. “Aren’t you thirsty?”
I smiled as bitchy as I could manage. “I know that people normally have to get wasted to be in your presence, but until this moment I had been blissfully far away from you so I didn’t need it.” I lifted the now warm bottle to my lips. “Unfortunately for me, you didn’t stay there.” I downed the entire contents in one long gulp. Then I wiped my lips. “Mmm,” I told him. “That’s better.”
We had drawn a crowd, a few of which started laughing when I was finished, which didn’t really make Evan laugh away my words. Instead he glared at me, his blue eyes narrowing and his nostrils flaring. Stacy’s jaw had dropped during my speech and she was now pleading with her eyes for me to apologize.
Penny and her new boy toy were closing in on us and I almost panicked. The alcohol, which wasn’t much, but just enough to loosen my inhibitions made me smile. “Too much?” I asked the crowd.
There was more laughter and the guy standing with Penny crossed his arms over his chest. When I met his eyes he raised his eyebrows, a smile playing over his lips. Music was still playing in the background and it helped to make the situation even more awkward.
“Everyone knows that you’re just a frigid bitch,” Evan told me, smiling triumphantly when there were snickers and gasps behind him. He pulled Stacy closer, “you just can’t stand the fact that I don’t want you, is that it? That when school ends this year, no one will remember you.”
My body froze. My mind went blank. Did he really just insinuate that I wished he was interested in me? Stacy was chewing on her lip, torn between wanting to jump to my defense and looking cool in front of Evan. I glared at them both.
“I wouldn’t want you to want me if you were the only guy in our entire school,” I told him, my voice betraying me by quivering slightly. “You are not worth my time.”
He laughed. Literally threw his stupid blonde head back and laughed. “I’m not worth your time? How about, no one wants you here. Last time I checked, you weren’t even invited.”
I hugged my arms around my chest, refusing to let the tears that were threatening, fall down my cheeks. With another look of triumph, he turned and pulled Stacy in for a kiss. She melted against him, grabbing handfuls of his shirt while behind them whistles and catcalls echoed in the woods. When he finally pulled away from her, he smiled at me before turning away taking her with him.
It was the ultimate humiliation and my eyes stung. I watched Stacy walk away, knowing that I wasn’t going to be riding home with her and then I stood up to walk through the woods toward the road. I was just about through the clearing with the trees promising to swallow me up and protect me from the staring eyes behind me when Evan called out to me once again.
“Hey Cross,” he yelled.
I froze again, refusing to turn around, but unable to make my feet keep moving. My hands were bunched into fists at my side and I wished that I could punch him in his face, but I knew that I couldn’t.

Instead he laughed when I didn’t turn to face him. “See you at school Monday.”

Monday Musings - Adorkable Review

I am in love with Adorkable! I am obsessed with Kindle Unlimited and so excited to have found Adorkable through that program.

My Thoughts:
For me, Adorkable was a really fun escape with Sally- who made me laugh out loud- and Becks- who made me wish my best friend was the hot guy in school!!

While the main plot wasn't any surprise to me, the journey from beginning to end was fun enough to not need a lot of twists and turns to keep me interested. It was a fast paced, heart warming story with some of the best characters I've ever found in a story. Cookie put so much love and description to her characters that I felt like we were all friends.

I was completely in love with this book and I'm excited to see what she writes in the future!

Author Spotlight

Meet Brad Boyer

I began writing about 15 years ago as a hobby but never thought about doing it for a living. But as I completed more and more novels, I started to wonder if I could be truly good at it, to be able to keep up with so many other great authors. So, I began to slowly release them as ebooks... I still don't know the answer to my question, but I am having fun writing with the added bonus of people other than me reading my material. I also know I have to continuously strive to get better and better.
Al Qaeda - The Hunt for Ali Muhammad and Al Qaeda - The Double Sword were so much fun to write. This Jack Novak series was born from all my crazy dreams as I sleep. I can't count how many times I am running down a steep mountain from a predator or maybe a raging volcano, or shooting bad guys in some dense, hot jungle, or how many high-speed car chases in the middle of some big city with way to many cars on the road I have been in. I am often more tired initially when I wake then when I went to bed from all the insanity!
So, I brought them to life with Jack Novak. I wanted to create a character that was not just some Rambo, but a human being with real problems, issues, dreams, and a life. Initially, the young man is new at the game and still figuring things out as he encounters chaotic and dangerous situations. But as the series progresses, he becomes more methodical, more lethal, one crazy individual, and is always in some sort of calamity with bad guys trying to kill him. I love the action, simply because I get it almost every night! And I have a few more to write hopefully in the near future.
As for my latest ebook, Endless Possibilities, well, check out my video, then click on the photo to read the description of this AMAZING 23 year in-the-making story!!
Outside of the novels, I have written several other smaller pieces. One of them is - 'A Recipe for Permanent Weight Loss .' It is much shorter than the action stories I love to write, but I think the most important as the obesity rate in the world increases. I purposely wrote it differently than most weight loss books. I wanted to teach the reader to understand WHY they are obese before learning how to lose the weight. You have to know the rules before you can play the game. And therefore, it is the PERFECT RECIPE!

ROCK & ROLL SAVED MY SOUL

**Sunday Spotlight**

Rock & Roll Saved My Soul was founded by Kate Marie Robbins in July of 2013 with the help of Jen Robbins, Arminta Dellow, and Sandy Ashley. It started out as a small idea to help a charity called Rock the Cause by putting together stories about how music positively impacts lives. In the end, it became so much more than that. We are now run by a team of 16, over several social media platforms. And a subpage, called The LOVE Project that focuses on loving yourself and the world.

Rock & Roll Saved My Soul is now a charity publishing company that not only puts together anthologies for many different charities, it helps authors publish their anthologies and novels for charity. Currently we work with one author on her anthology series and are in the works to start on another series with another author, as well as one for a woman who is not an author, but feels very strongly about her cause.

RRSMS has published anthologies for: Rock the Cause, War Dogs Making It Home, National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, STOMP Out Bullying, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, HOPE Coalition. Our next anthology, I Am Loved, which is set to release September 2, 2016 will benifit The Trevor Project.

We always have anthologies accepting submissions, including: Everyday Miracles, Rise Above, Notes of Dreams, and Fighting Chance Volume Two.
